What do I need to wear if I’m golfing in Scotland?

When you go golfing in another country it is best to know the rules for their golf courses. In Scotland and for much of the UK, they require that you dress in slacks and a polo style shirt for both men and women. Women can wear a skirt of an appropriate length. Things such as jeans, shorts, and t-shirts aren’t allowed on their golf courses.

The first thing that you need to know about Scotland is the weather. Wet weather isn’t uncommon so remember your umbrella and waterproof golf shoes. If you plan on renting a car while in Scotland, remember that their vehicles are smaller than what we are used to so pack lightly. This means to limit your luggage and take a light golf bag that you can carry. Yes, you will carry your clubs or use a pull cart because golf carts are rare over there.

When you are in the clubhouse remember that they are very strict on men wearing a jacket and a tie and no golf shoes are allowed beyond the locker rooms. Ladies should consider wearing something casual.

Scotland is a beautiful country and has great golf courses that we will talk about later.
