Ladies Professional Golf Association

The LPGA, Ladies Professional Golf Association, was founded in 1950 by 13 women. It’s the largest and best known American organization for female professional golfers in the world. It started as a playing tour but has now grown into a non-profit organization. The LPGA is involved in junior golf programs, many scholarships for college bound women, golf clinics for women, and the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.

The LPGA Tour, a series of weekly golf tournaments for female golfers around the world, this year will have at least 35 events with the highest prize money in LPGA history. The LPGA is growing more and more every year. They are more involved in women’s issues and getting younger generations involved in golf with formation of the LPGA Foundation in 1991.

In 1959, the LPGA Teaching and Club Professionals group was born. They are dedicated to the advancement of golf through teaching, coaching and managing golf facilities. The LPGA Teaching and Club Professionals support the LPGA’s programs that work to increase the involvement of women and youth in golf.
