One of my favorite colors is green. I love certain colors of green. PUMA has some great clothing pieces that really make a statement out on the golf course. Their Special Edition Chrome Collection has some great apparel and accessories.

Their polos use advanced USP technology fabric which offers moisture wicking to keep you cool, comfortable and dry while the elastane content allows for free movement and always reverts back to the original shape making this the ultimate performance shirt!

PUMA Special Edition White Cuffed Short
PUMA shorts feature DuPont Teflon for water and stain protection.

Now that you have the outfit, it’s not complete just yet. Add in a handbag:

When you go on a weekend trip to the golf resort, you need a weekend bag and why not match the rest of your outfit! PUMA has found a way to create this whole line and think of everything that you need to make a fashion statement.

Do you like Lilly Pulitzer?

Thursday, April 10th, 2008

Lilly Pulitzer golf wear started off, oddly enough, being sold in a juice stand in Palm Beach, Florida, in the 1950s. A New York socialite who married Florida citrus grove owner Peter Pulitzer, Lilly opened a juice stand to occupy her time and energy. When she asked a dressmaker to design an outfit that would help hide those ugly juice stains, customers began to notice her outfit. She soon began selling some of these dresses in her stand.

Whether you’re an original Lilly Pulitzer golf wear devotee or you’ve recently discovered this re-growing trend, Lady Golf is one of the exclusive shops trusted enough to sell this line.

Lady Golf has just reduced a large selection of last season’s Lilly Pulitzer collection including sleeveless & short sleeve polo shirts, skirts, capri’s and pants.

High-Tech Fabrics Are in High Demand Both on and off the Golf Course

Tuesday, April 8th, 2008

Few people can play golf like the hottest names on the PGA tour. But anyone who wears the latest premium golf apparel can look and feel as good as the top players while walking the fairways or corporate hallways. Thanks to technology, which now reigns supreme in fabric and apparel development, the reality is customers have more choices than ever before. As a result, they increasingly demand performance-enhancing golf apparel with the latest and greatest fabric innovations, along with new-generation construction to ensure clothing that is quiet, breathable and performs well.

Performance fabrics have become a primary focus for the majority of leading apparel brands as top manufacturers continue to raise the bar with new fabrication technologies, including:

  • Moisture-management products that use special yarns and fabrics to quickly take moisture away from the body and then promote rapid evaporation from the garment’s outer surface. The wearer remains comfortable even in the harshest conditions.
  • Antimicrobial fabrics that use special technology that embeds carbon or other odor-absorbing substances to trap odor and then release it when laundered.
  • Water-repellent gear that delivers a durable barrier to rain while also providing mildew resistance. The result keeps garments cleaner and looking new — even in the wettest weather.
  • UV-protective clothing that provides a high Ultraviolet Protection Factor (UPF) rating, which is akin to the SPF rating on sun-blocking products. For example, a shirt with a UPF of 50 blocks 98 percent of UV radiation.
  • Wind-resistant garments that use the latest in fabric construction and garment design to block and buffer the elements.

Stretch fabrics also remain an integral component of most premium golf apparel, while technology features and styles vary to meet a wide variety of applications. The key to leveraging the latest performance fabrics is helping customers determine the proper blend of technologies to deliver the most value at the best price.

Early technology-adopters are quick to embrace state-of-the-art moisture-management products, water-repellent gear, UV-protective clothing and the newest wind-resistant garments. The majority of customers, however, will weigh features, functionality and costs before deciding which premium golf apparel is most appropriate for their special events, corporate gifts, employee incentives or corporate logo attire.

Manufacturers best known for technology advancements can also be expected to have the strongest retail presence. Buyers who want the same quality products they see in retail stores are turning to these market leaders, which offer a vast assortment of technologies, fashion-forward styles and colors, as well as a plethora of finely tuned co-branding opportunities. More than ever, retail-right product is a leading driver in the imprintable sportswear industry, as business buyers seek to elevate their own brands by adding corporate logos to the most preferred technology- and fashion-focused lifestyle brands.

During the past five years, women’s golf apparel has benefited greatly from the infusion of retail lifestyle brands. Initially, female golf apparel choices were limited to unisex styles. Today, women’s apparel and companion pieces include fashion-forward styles with improved athletic fit and unique colors.

This kind of education continues to play a crucial role in dealing with high-tech fabrics. To ensure that advanced golf apparel does its job both on and off the course, distributors need to develop an understanding of the top technology advancements, as well as provide effective sales tools to facilitate purchase decisions. Equally important is helping customers understand all the potential uses for a particular fabric innovation, while generating creative options to facilitate new and compelling marketing ideas.

For more conservative or cost-conscious organizations, the ideal time for introducing cutting-edge fabrics and fashion trends might coincide with a corporate image upgrade. For others, a customer golf outing or other time-sensitive event may ignite the opportunity to try a new type of technically advanced garment.

It all comes down to understanding your customers. Only by doing this can offerings be tailored to best fit their needs and budgets. The key is helping customers think beyond traditional channels and offering creative ways to incorporate premium sportswear into their mix of promotional products strategies. Having ample inventory and top-notch fulfillment capabilities is crucial to supporting their evolving requirements for both tried-and-true and leading-edge golf garments that help them compete better on the course and in the boardroom.

Remember, you have options beyond the well-loved polo shirt.

Look at different tiers of pricing. If price is the overriding issue, find the level that is right for the customer, and then include as much value as possible. After all, value is not measured by what is least expensive. Instead, determine the proper price point — that’s what helps create the best overall product and purchasing experience for customers. At the end of the day, decisions are not made only on a single technology or the latest fad or trend. It comes down to how you support your customers. Knowing their needs and having the proper mix of technology and products — all while understanding the trends — is an unbeatable combination.

New to the game? Here’s how to look like you’ve been doing it for years.

Monday, September 24th, 2007

The first thing that you need to know is how to dress like a golfer. In the old days the men would wear socks up to their knees and pedal pushers that were elastic at their calf and of course who could forget the plaid! Well today golfing is as much about fashion as it is about golfing.

Women can wear bermuda shorts to capris to skorts to skirts and dresses. There’s a wide variety out there to choose from. Golf courses don’t allow jeans and that applies to both men and women.

Men don’t have a lot to pick from. They have to wear shirts with collars which usually means some sort of polo type of shirt.

Capri Pants vs. Pedal Pushers

Monday, September 24th, 2007

Capri pants are the latest thing in fashion over the last 2 years. You can think of capris as shorter pants or longer shorts. They are typically worn in warm weather like the spring or summer. Most people where capris when they are embarrassed to wear shorts or want to look professional but they don’t want to wear pants.

Did you know? The pants’ name originated from the Italian isle of Capri, where they were first made popular in the late fifties and early sixties.

The great thing about capris is that they are fashionable and at the same time they are comfortable. This is a great combination especially out on the golf course. Bogner, Masters Golf Fashion - The Choice to Win, EP Pro, Escada, Lilly Pulitzer, Marie Valois, Sportalm, St. John Sport, and Tail all carry Capri pants in their collections. They all carry something a little different for example EP Pro sports a floral collection for their capris. Bogner has a great cargo Capri which has many different pockets for storage of a cell phone, keys, and extra golf balls. Sportalm’s collection is very cute and feminine for the younger lady golfer.

Another name that you sometimes here capris called are pedal pushers. Pedal pushers originated from the type of pants being worn by cyclists back in the 1950’s.

Whether you call them pedal pushers or Capri pants, they are a great staple to have in your wardrobe and are a great fashion statement.

Functional and stylish clothes are a good mixture

Friday, September 21st, 2007

When I’m out on the golf course I want to have functional clothing but I don’t want to abandon my style while I’m out there. I of course don’t want to be too stylish and then not be able to hit the ball but I also don’t want to look like I’m dressed in men’s clothes.

I like some of the European labels like Bogner and Golfino because they know how to combine functionality with fashion. Golfino is a sporty style with elegance and is great to wear in any weather condition on the golf course.

Another great one is a North American designer named Leon Levin. In the 1960’s Leon Levin developed the skort as we know it today. I love playing in a skort because it gives me the freedom of a pair of shorts yet the elegance of a skirt.

Sexy Golf Fashion

Friday, September 21st, 2007

In the last few years the number of female golfers has grown into huge numbers. Since there are so many more lady golfers hitting the links, the demand has increased for more attractive and feminine golf clothes. And not just golf clothes but all of the accessories that go with golfing.

Golf clothes for women don’t look like men’s clothes any more. They are now designed to be sexy yet still be in line with the golf course dress codes. Golf clothes are very chic these days. Obviously you don’t want clothes that are very tight but you do want them to be more shapely and less boxy.

Ralph Lauren does a great job of making sporty, chic golf clothes that hug your body and transfer moisture away from your body. They also have a great stretchy fabric that’s made for freedom of movement. Lady Golf has just added some new shirts and skorts from Ralph Lauren’s fall collection.

Golf wear for the course

Tuesday, August 21st, 2007

Golfers are always trying to improve their game by purchasing videos and other self help books to help them play better when a big thing that they need to do is make sure they are wearing the right kind of clothes. Something this simple can help or hinder your game. Golf apparel should be comfortable since you will be doing plenty of walking and swinging.

Men only have a couple of choices for their basic golf wear. They can wear pants or sometimes (depends on the club) shorts and always a polo shirt. Why do I say always to the polo shirt? Polo shirts are very comfortable, are 100% cotton and have a collar. Most Golf Clubs have rules that say that men have to wear pants and collared shirts.

Women can wear golf skirts, pants, capris with their golf shirts. Some women even wear a sporty dress on the course. It just depends on your taste and what feels right to you.

The first thing that you need to do is find clothes that fit right. You want clothes that let you move freely and don’t constrict your movement. You might need to go up a size and have the clothing altered. Make sure that when you try on your golf shirt that you check for enough mobility in the shirt. You don’t want it to be too loose because that will also get in your way. Your golf pants should not be tight on you, as they need to allow for bending and mobility too.

Since you are doing so much walking, golf shoes are another big item that we need to discuss. I will talk more about how to pick golf shoes later.

What’s great about golf apparel today is that you can get the comfort and mobility that you need and still have a sense of style and great fashion while on the golf course.

What do I need to wear if I’m golfing in Scotland?

Thursday, August 16th, 2007

When you go golfing in another country it is best to know the rules for their golf courses. In Scotland and for much of the UK, they require that you dress in slacks and a polo style shirt for both men and women. Women can wear a skirt of an appropriate length. Things such as jeans, shorts, and t-shirts aren’t allowed on their golf courses.

The first thing that you need to know about Scotland is the weather. Wet weather isn’t uncommon so remember your umbrella and waterproof golf shoes. If you plan on renting a car while in Scotland, remember that their vehicles are smaller than what we are used to so pack lightly. This means to limit your luggage and take a light golf bag that you can carry. Yes, you will carry your clubs or use a pull cart because golf carts are rare over there.

When you are in the clubhouse remember that they are very strict on men wearing a jacket and a tie and no golf shoes are allowed beyond the locker rooms. Ladies should consider wearing something casual.

Scotland is a beautiful country and has great golf courses that we will talk about later.
